Encroachments are unauthorized use of, or activity on or near, the pipeline right of way that has the potential to put the public or the pipeline at risk. We monitor the activity along the right-of-way through aerial and foot patrols. Here is an example of unauthorized land uses that could compromise the safety of the pipeline.

- Storage (eg. vechicle, hazardous materials)
- Sheds
- Carports
- Swimming Pools
- Trees
Working closely with the landowners, tenants, contractors and others, we have a program to address removing encroachments throughout the pipeline system. Our goal is to enable the landowner to use and enjoy their property and to ensure the safe operation and maintenance of the pipeline. Here is an example of an appropriate and safe use of a right-of-way.
